Overview
Thermasheet may be used as a lightweight substrate in selected external applications including soffits, bulkheads, facade features, columns and other architectural forms, subject to the project design, building classification, wind loading and finish system.
Key points
- Use corrosion-resistant support and fixings
- Seal joints and exposed edges
- Fully encapsulate with an approved exterior finish
- Provide movement joints, flashings and drainage detailing
Installation steps
-
1
SUPPORT
Provide a structurally adequate, corrosion-resistant support system.
-
2
FIXINGS
Use fasteners and washers suitable for the exposure category and substrate.
-
3
SEAL
Seal all board joints, penetrations and exposed cut edges with Thermasheet MSP Sealant as detailed.
-
4
ENCAPSULATE
Fully encapsulate the exposed board face with a compatible reinforced render, microcement or approved exterior coating or tile system.

5
REINFORCE RENDER
For rendered facades, use full-surface reinforcement mesh where required by the render-system manufacturer, with additional diagonal reinforcement at openings and stress points.
-
6
MOVEMENT JOINTS
Maintain required control and movement joints through the board and finish system.
-
7
SHED WATER
Detail flashings, heads, sills and penetrations so water is shed from the building envelope rather than relying on sealant alone.
